As part of our primary bedroom project one challenge we faced was identifying space for our closet. As you may know, we decided to take the original walk-in closet and add it to the new bathroom. So, in making that decision we had to get creative with our new closet space and — by way of a brilliant idea from my mother-in-law — we landed on installing wall-to-wall custom cabinets in our bedroom!

So, you may have seen on my recent stories that we had a paint situation at Cedar Alley Acres last week. We painted the common areas of our main level and ended up with a paint color that was inconsistent on our walls. The paint we used to trim and the paint we rolled didn’t match. Ultimately we experienced the color inconsistency because we purchased the same color from two different store locations. So today, I wanted to spend some time talking about how to avoid inconsistent paint colors and also offer guidance on what to do if you experience one.

Last weekend we installed shiplap in our primary bedroom. If you followed along in my stories, you got to see a little behind the scenes. Today I wanted to breakdown our process and share a few tools that will help take your shiplap project to the next level.

The first time Garrett and I saw the house, that has now become our home, our minds went spinning with all of the updates and projects we could bring to the property to not only make it our own, but also to give it a fresh look to align with our style. One of those updates we immediately identified was painting the exterior. What we did not pinpoint is how quickly that plan would come to fruition, nor what product we would ultimately use.
